A Bit About Me

I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. While living in the Bay area I exhibited work in the Diego Rivera and Atholl McBean galleries.

In 1978 I worked on a one-year project for the Town of Irondequoit, New York. The main objectives were preserving and archiving an extensive collection of historic photographs and documenting all public buildings, churches and businesses in town.

I exhibit work regionally and have had several solo exhibitions. Since 1979 I have taught classes and workshops at the Community Darkroom in the Flower City Arts Center, Rochester, New York.

In April of 2000 I collaborated with author Roxanne Gupta on her book published by Inner Visions titled A Yoga of Indian Classical Dance for which I made over 300 photographs.

In April of 2003 I gave a talk at the George Eastman House Museum of Photography on the process of hand applied color to black and white photographs.

In 2004, with a group of friends we organized a fundraiser exhibition of the paintings of Peruvian Visionary artist Francisco Shuna. The effort helped expand and protect land at the Sachamama Ethnobotanical Garden in the Amazon Forest of Peru. I was fortunate to see the results of those efforts during a visit to the Amazon and the Andes Mountains in 2005.

I made nearly all of the photographs that were included in author Jane Schuster's book Standing in Stillness published in 2017.

At the end of 2019 I retired from the University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics where I worked in the Optics and Imaging Sciences Group for more than 21 years.

I became an Adirondack 46-er in September 2007. It only took me 33 years!
